Hey, thanks for reading and I hope you're enjoying my blog. :) No worries about language, IMHO.

Yeah, I see your point about not being someone's keeper and such, but I just don't want it cluttering up my stream, you know?

I don't like the location services and I turn them off whenever I can for the exact reason you mention: I don't need potential thieves to know I'm not at home. Now, theoretically, my Twitter and FB posts are "Friends Only" but I work in the tech industry so I know better than that. There are obvious exceptions: everyone and their brother knew I was going to Comic Con (I had multiple people I rarely interact with at work ask me in the break room when I was leaving for my "comic thing") so there was no harm posting location information while I was there in the form of comments like "Made it to San Diego!" since that information was already out in the universe.

The place where we differ is that I don't particularly care if others use location information. Facebook lets you block applications you don't want to hear from so I can mostly filter out the stuff I don't want to see and the rest I eventually am able to identify with a glance so I don't really have to look at it *shrug* In general my attitude toward the check-in apps is "meh"; it's definitely not for me, but when it comes to others it's sort of like those people who get out of their car but leave the keys in the ignition: I think it's dumb and they're asking for trouble, but I'm not their keeper and they have a right to do as they please assuming it doesn't infringe on the peace and safety of others.
Foursquare let a co-worker create one of the men’s room stalls as a “place” so we could check in there. I’m currently the “Mayor”.
So does that make you King Shit of the Kaka Tribe?

I've only recently started reading your blog so I don't know your stance on language. If you feel you should edit my text, please feel free to; I simply could not resist making the comment. It's a family expression for someone who thinks they're all-that-and-a-bag-of-chips and it seemed particularly relevant both to your specific comment and the conversation in general ;)
