I talk to a lot of people on any given day, whether in person at work, or through various technological implementations. While back in my day — which was a Tuesday — there were only a couple of methods to communicate with people not in the same room with you…namely the telephone or a written (gasp!) letter, these days we have so many more options. Email, IM, text messaging, Skype, Twitter, Facebook, chat rooms and so much more. I’m finding that, for example, I’m using the actual phone part of my phone so much less and less than texting, instant messaging, email and so on.

Once again, my site was hit with malware, but I’ve uninstalled and reinstalled WordPress AGAIN. Hopefully it won’t happen again. Sadly I think I lost a story in the process. Boo.

So as you may know, I’m something of a social network whore. I’m somewhat addicted to them, because they make it easy to have conversations (or snippets thereof) with many of my closest friends. However, the more I’ve used them, the more I noticed my habits have changed in their use, and I’ve developed a preference. Whereas once I used to be on Twitter most of the time, now I’m on Facebook much more often. Why is that? Well, I’ll tell you…

Recently, Blizzard entertainment announced plans to make real names mandatory on their Starcraft 2 forums, with other forums like World of Warcraft to follow. This was met with a wide array of opinions, both positive and negative. While I’m in the positive camp, I know many, many people who prefer pseudonyms over their real names when online. Well, giving into an overwhelmingly negative response, Blizzard has rescinded this rule today, allowing people to hide behind their pseudonyms at their leisure. ;) Now, as someone who uses my real name on everything I do online, I personally don’t understand the big deal, but I seem to be in the minority.

So I had to uninstall and reinstall WordPress to make it right, but it all seems okay now. Gotta do some tweaking to make the site back to where she was, but things are okay now…I hope. Thanks for your patience!

Edit: I’m not insanely fond of this theme, but it’s the best I have for now until I can find/remember the name of the one I was previously using.

Hey kids, just wanna apologize for not posting much of late. Been a crazy month with work and sickness and all manner of distractions, but I’ll be back on the horse soon. I’ll be posting a review of the almost-complete version of Metropolis soon, for example, plus some other fun tidbits. I hope y’all are well, and thanks for visiting.

I hope to keep this site evolving over time, and one of those things I might do occasionally is change the look. I might be trying out a few new themes for this lil’ WordPress bloggy thingy over the next few days before settling on a new one, so don’t be alarmed if the site looks different from when you last saw it. Thanks!

This past weekend I attended WonderCon in San Francisco. I had a great time, saw a lot of awesome old friends and made some new ones, took some fun pictures and saw a lot of great panels. Now, my coverage of the con is still being written, and will be up on Whedonopolis in a spell, but what I wanted to write about today was the experience known as “connui”.

We’ve all been there, I’m sure. We get a new game, a new DVD, a new book series, find a new website, what have you, and we get sucked into it, wholly and fully. For a while, we’re totally enamored with this thing, whether it’s a new TV series, a funny website, or a book series. Eventually, however, we all get to a point where we start feeling less enamored with this new thing, this new obsession, so we take one of many different paths. We take a break from it and return later, quit from it outright, or plow through the burnout.
