Most American dramas or comedies on broadcast TV have their episode count in the twenty-somethings, usually between twenty and twenty four, depending on the show (like “24”, I know). However, on American cable channels, as well as on British TV, seasons are quite a bit shorter. On cable channels they’re usually ten to fifteen episodes, wheras on British shows, they can be as few as six episodes to thirteen episodes.

So why am I bringing this up? Easy…I think American TV seasons should be shorter.

We’ve all been there, I’m sure. We get a new game, a new DVD, a new book series, find a new website, what have you, and we get sucked into it, wholly and fully. For a while, we’re totally enamored with this thing, whether it’s a new TV series, a funny website, or a book series. Eventually, however, we all get to a point where we start feeling less enamored with this new thing, this new obsession, so we take one of many different paths. We take a break from it and return later, quit from it outright, or plow through the burnout.

On this site I’ve mentioned some news on the upcoming remake to The Rockford Files, starring Delmot Mulrooney and Alan Tudyk. I have to admit, my first reaction to hearing the news that one of my favorite shows was being targeted for a remake was “Oh fuck no,” it reminded me of the last time I felt this way about the news of a remake, specifically Battlestar Galactica. This got me thinking on the idea of remakes and why I, and other, might be so initially against them, whether they turn out to be great or not.

As of the time of this writing, I have two tattoos. My first tattoo, a pentagram-pattern surrounded by a sun on my chest — was taken from the show Supernatural, and is the same one Sam and Dean Winchester have on their chests originally seen in the season three episode, “Jus In Bello.” Now, why did I get this particular tattoo? Well, at the time I was wanting a tattoo to show I’d conquered a lot of fear in my life, and thought at tattoo would signify that. Once I saw the tattoo on the show, I knew I had the pattern I wanted.

‘TV Squad is reporting that Firefly alum Alan Tudyk will be joining the cast of the upcoming remake of The Rockford Files, being put together by House creator David Shore. Tudyk will play Detective Dennis Becker, originally played by Joe Santos.

My personal opinion of this is very wary. The Rockford Files is one of my all-time favorite TV shows, and while I do adore House and love Alan Tudyk, the choice of Dermot Mulroney to play Jim Rockford really worries me. I’ll watch it, of course, but my expectations are very, very low.

According to a story over on TV Squad (who is citing a report from Blue Sky Digital), Disney is preparing to launch a computer-animated show based in the Tron universe.

The show, if launched, could appear on a Disney network such as ABC or Disney XD by late 2011 or early 2012. The purpose of the show would be to keep people interested in the franchise in-between big Tron-based projects.

For fans like me, news of this, as well as excitement over the upcoming movie, Tron Legacy, is awesome stuff. I really hope it comes to fruition.
